Guidelines for Meditation
Through the use of guided
meditation,
many people have found peace and serenity in their everyday lives. There
are so many stresses and decisions that people have to deal with on a
daily basis. These stresses and decisions can cause a person to become
mentally and physically exhausted. The stresses of a person’s workday are
usually taken home with him or her and they can make a person completely
unable to relax and enjoy an evening. One of the best ways to release
these stresses is through a guided meditation session. Meditation is a type of
relaxation technique that is open for interpretation and can be performed
by everyone in his or her own way. One a person has developed the basic
skills and knows the guidelines of guided meditation; he or she is able to feel
the benefits of the exercise. The guidelines for guided meditation may seem easy
to comprehend, but they only come easily for someone once he or she has
practiced them many times. The rules and guidelines of guided meditation are what
make the exercise so effective for people who need to have their stress
released.
One of the first guidelines for a person who is starting a guided
meditation
session is for him or her to put the expectations they may have for the
exercise aside. There is no particular way to do the exercise “right” so
the best way for a person to meditate is by not concentrating on doing it
the tight way. When a person does use concentration to try and conform the
exercise to how he or she thinks it should be performed, he or she is
taking away from the actual concentration of the guided meditation itself. If a
person is too busy putting emphasis on doing the exercise the correct way,
he or she will lose the focus on the actual guided meditation and will not get a
deep concentration. The person trying to perform it cannot overanalyze a
guided meditation. If a person does over analyze the guided meditation that is
occurring, the person will not reap the benefits of the peace and serenity
that the exercise can bring.
Trying to make the mind completely blank is another thing that many people
who are meditating do. This is not the right way to “concentrate” while
meditating and can take away from the benefits of the exercise. A blank
mind is a lot different than a concentrating mind. Although a
concentrating mind may be hard to achieve and many people will not get it
on their first try, it is the goal that a person meditating should be
working toward. A blank mind does not help a person to relieve stress and
have a peaceful state of mind. There is also no way to force a guided
meditation.
By trying to force a guided meditation, many people can lose the concentration
and the feeling of bliss will not come to them. With the force of a
guided meditation, a person can become tense and trying to force a guided
meditation
loses the energy used to concentrate.
It is important for a person to find a comfortable and quit place to
meditate. If the environment is quiet and serene, it is easier for the
person to concentrate and feel peaceful. Trying to prevent distractions is
also a good way to form a good line of concentration. By being in an
isolated place with no talking or distractions, a person has a greater
chance of concentration and peacefulness. It is also a good idea for a
person to eat a small snack before guided meditation. The distraction of hunger
can become overwhelming for a person sitting quietly and concentration can
become harder to achieve. It is important for a person who is meditating
to find a comfortable place and a comfortable position. Everyone has their
own guided meditation position and there is no “right” way to position a person’s
body. The legs don’t have to be crossed in order to meditate and comfort
is they key to a guided meditation pose. When a pose is reached, however, a
person should be sure that his or her spine is straight and not strained.
If the simple guidelines of guided meditation are followed, a person can have a
unique and beneficial guided meditation experience.
